Mara Schoeny is an assistant professor at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University and the Director of the School’s Graduate Certificate Program. She teaches courses in research and evaluation methods, practice skills and the integration of inter-disciplinary approaches to conflict analysis and resolution. She was a 1998 USIA Visiting Fellow in the Curriculum Development Exchange Program, in residence at Yerevan State University, Armenia.  She teaches three courses in the graduate certificate program including CONF 502 Intensive Introduction to Conflict Analysis and Resolution, CONF 660 Conflict Assessment and Program Evaluation, and CONF 668 Applied Integration for Graduate Certificates.

Susan Allen Nan is a scholar-practitioner of conflict resolution. Her main focus is on reflective practice and research that emerges from practice contexts.  She has substantial expertise in intermediary roles and coordination amongst intermediaries, evaluation of conflict resolution initiatives, and theories of change and indicators of change in conflict resolution practice.  She has engaged long-term in conflict resolution in the Caucasus, as well as contributing to a variety of conflict resolution initiatives in Eastern Europe, Eurasia, the Caribbean, South America, and Africa.

Bill Potapchuk is President and founder of the Community Building Institute. CBI works to strengthen the capacity of communities and organizations to conduct public business inclusively, collaboratively, and effectively with the goal of building healthy, sustainable and equitable futures. He also has served as a facilitator and mediator in a wide range of settings, including successful efforts to merge school systems in North Carolina; transform educational systems in Detroit, strengthen affordable housing policy in Arlington, Virginia, and build consensus on a green building ordinance for Washington , DC. Believing that communities need to build their capacity to work across differences, he helped found Collaboration DC, an initiative working to support the use of collaborative practices to address tough issues. He has worked with co-authors on Learning from Neighborhoods: The Story of the Hampton Neighborhood Initiative, 1993-2003, Community Development: A Guide for Grantmakers on Fostering Better Outcomes through Good Process, Negotiated Approaches to Environmental Decision Making in Communities, and Building Community: Exploring the Role of Social Capital and Local Government. He has co-authored chapters for the Deliberative Democracy Handbook, Consensus Building Handbook and the Collaborative Leadership Fieldbook.

Frank Dukes has been affiliated with George Mason's School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution and Department of Environmental Science and Policy since fall of 2008. I have also been privileged to work for the Institute for Environmental Negotiation (IEN) since 1990, and as Director since 2000.

Robert Fisher specializes in facilitating constructive dialogue and cooperative action. He has worked with stakeholders throughout the United States to reach creative solutions to environmental and natural resources, infrastructure planning, intergovernmental coordination, land use, litigation settlement, regulatory programs, strategic planning, and transportation issues. Leadership and group dynamics in high-conflict situations are a practice and research interest. He practiced law in Washington, D.C. specializing in negotiating complex transactions. Robert is the founder of Fisher Collaborative Services LC, based in Alexandria, VA.

Marc Gopin is the James H. Laue Professor of Religion, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution, and the Director of the new Center on Religion, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University's School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution. He is also a Senior Researcher at the Fletcher School for Law and Diplomacy's Institute for Human Security.

Vandy Kanyako graduated from the University of Sierra Leone in 1998 with a BA (Hons) in History. He received his MA in International Relations from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2002 and a Masters in Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame in 2003. Between 2008 and 2009 he served as Senior Program Officer at World Learning in Washington DC. From 2004 and 2005 he served as the Coordinator of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) in New York which brought together 1000 participants from governments, the UN and civil society at the UN Headquarters in July 2005 to explore the role of civil society in conflict prevention. 


 
 
Mary Mulviihill, Ph.D.

Mary Mulvihill, an independent consultant and trainer, specializes in peacebuilding program assessment, design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. In overseas positions with AED, she helped design and implement peacebuilding programs as a Senior Technical Advisor in Sri Lanka, Program Manager in Kosovo, and then Country Director in northern Sudan. Ms. Mulvihill received an AED Technical Leadership award in 2007 for helping develop the Bridge Media approach that engages multiple stakeholders in conflict settings in jointly producing pro-peace media content.

Dr. Alma Abdul-Hadi Jadallah, is a national and international conflict resolution practitioner, and scholar with more than a decade of experience in conflict prevention and mitigation practice and education, training and development, peace building and capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, organizational development and leadership development. She led and directed civil society initiatives related to the Arab world and Islamic community.

 David J. Smith is a senior program officer at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) where he focuses on promoting educational strategies in higher and public education and coordinates outreach activities.  He speaks frequently to community, faculty, and student groups on a variety of issues including civil society and peace, child soldiers, conflict resolution, and international education.  Prior to joining USIP, he  taught full time at  Harford Community College, and part time at Goucher College, Towson University, and Stevenson University.

Marcelle E. (Marci) Dupraw is a concensus-building expert with over 25 years of experience.  She holds a Masters in Natural Resource Policy, Economics, and Management from the University of Michigan, and has a broad array of skills and tools with which to help parties reach durable agreements on how to address challenging environmental quality, natural resource management, public health, and cross-cultural issues at both the policy and site specific levels.  Ms. Dupraw has provided facilitation and mediation for a wide range of forums, including advisory committees, multi-year consensus-building projects, public meetings, science-intensive workshops, and high stakes site-specific conflicts.
