S-CAR Convocation 2012
Convocation is S-CAR's celebration of graduating students. It is separate from the main George Mason graduation ceremony (Commencement).
S-CAR Convocation: Saturday, May 19, 2012 2:00 p.m. in Dewberry Hall of the Johnson Center, GMU Fairfax Campus, following the GMU Commencement.
- Convocation is celebrated by individual schools and colleges
- Individual school, college, and institute graduates only
- All guests are welcome; tickets are not required
- All graduates are individually recognized and photographed on stage
- Caps and gowns are required
This is the S-CAR community’s opportunity to celebrate your accomplishments. This event generally runs 1- 1 1/2 hours. At this ceremony all PhD, M.S. , BA, and B.S. students, graduating from S-CAR get their chance to walk across the stage and have their name read. We also do some S-CAR awards, and generally just have a good time. Graduates are requested to arrive one hour early, check in, and then will be arranged by degree, in alphabetical order. It is essential that you arrive at 1pm for the ceremony to ensure you name is read. The doors open for family members to take a seat at 1:30 p.m.--again, no tickets are required. Individual Photos of each graduate will be taken during the ceremony and you will automatically be contacted by the photographer for the opportunity to purchase copies. Afterward, there will be a reception with light food and drink.
