George Mason University Library

The Arlington Campus Library and the Fenwick and Johnson Libraries located on the Fairfax campus are the main libraries used by the S-CAR community.  You can:

The beautiful new Arlington Campus Library is located on the second floor of Founders Hall.  Computers, study rooms and reading carols are readily available. Speak with a reference librarian about accessing the 3,000+ books in the special "conflict resolution" collection through the catalog. Here are the Arlington Campus Library hours.

The Law Library located in Hazel Hall on the Arlington Campus is also available for S-CAR students to use. The copy center is located in this library. in addition to copying and binding services, the copy center can print off and bind your e-reserves into a course pack for you.

Note: Books in the catalog that indicate another library campus can be delivered to a campus of your choice. To request a book to be sent to another campus you will need to log in and then fill out a form with the book information (it is recommended that you open a new window to copy and past the information from the record. Log in here).  Alternatively, use the Aladin catalog (see next) to avoid filling out lengthy forms.  Books and other materials  are usually transfered  within two - three business days.

The Consortium Library System (WRLC- Aladin)

George Mason University is part of a consortium of ten other universities in the Washington D.C. area.  Through the Washington Reseach Library Consortium (WRLC),  S-CAR members can access all libraries within the consortium. If a book is not available at one library, copies are often available at one of the other library locations.

GMU library cards are accepted at all consortium libraries. Further, all books and materials can be returned to any consortium library location.

To request books online, browse the WRLC- Aladin catalog  and then click on the yellow "'sticky note'- request item" link on each record. After you have logged in once, you only need to fill in your G# and indicate which university campus you would like to pick up your books.  Books and materials are usually delivered within 2- 3 business days. An email notification is usually sent informing you of the availabilty of your books for pick up.
