At the undergraduate level, S-CAR offers four different degree program:
General
To qualify for a bachelor's degree, a student must have been admitted to George Mason, and complete at least 120 credits that can be counted towards graduation. The students must fulfill all stated requirements for the specific degree, and must have earned a GPA of at least 2.000 in the courses presented for graduation. An undergraduate may present up to 12 credits of courses in which C- or D grades have been earned. A student may not present more than six credits of C- or D grades in a major and no more than three credits of C- or D grades in a minor. The student must maintain a C or higher in the two University required composition courses and complete the major’s writing intensive course. Please refer to the appropriate section of the catalog for further information. Students seeking a bachelor's degree must apply at least 45 credits of upper-level courses (numbered 300 or above) toward graduation requirements. PHED courses offered by the School of Recreation, Health & Tourism that are activity courses cannot be counted toward credits required for a degree in CAR. Students may use non-activity PHED courses for elective credit.
Residency Requirements
At least 30 credits must be taken at Mason to confer a degree. Additionally, a minimum of 12 upper-level credits (courses numbered 300 or above) in the major program are required.
Writing Intensive
Students are required to take a writing-intensive course in their major. CONF 302 is the writing intensive course for CAR majors.
If you are interested in declaring a major in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, here are the steps:
- Complete the top portion of this form. (Most advising offices also have blank copies.)
- Take the form to your current major's academic advising office for them to sign. Undeclared majors can skip this step.
- Schedule an advising appointment with one of the S-CAR undergraduate advisors.
- Bring the signed form with you to your appointment. We'll take care of the rest!
If you are interested in declaring a minor, you can schedule an appointment with one of the S-CAR undergraduate advisors. Your major's approval is not required.
