ICAR VISITING FACULTY
APPLICATION GUIDELINES

  1. ICAR welcomes inquiries about visiting scholar positions. Those who have Ph.Ds and/or significant practice or policy making experiences will be given priority.

  2. Decisions on visiting scholars are made twice a year at the end of November and April, with appointments beginning the following semester.

  3. If you are interested in visiting scholar status and need a letter of support to be issued by ICAR, it will require at least 30 days advanced notice for adequate processing time.

  4. Applicants should submit a c.v. and research proposal. The title and a short description of the proposed project (one to three pages) are required.

  5. Potential applicants should check the ICAR web site and develop communication with an ICAR faculty member. Please inform us of what kind of research and activities you want to pursue. Applicants supported by our faculty members will have the best chance of acceptance.

  6. Visiting scholar appointments normally range from a semester up to an academic year.

  7. Visiting scholar appointments are unpaid positions. Scholars receive office space, a gmu email account and use of the university facilities.

  8. Visiting scholars make their own arrangements for airport pickups and local accommodations.

  9. To submit an application or request more information, please send email to icarmgr@gmu.edu
