Plan an Event
The S-CAR Community comes alive when we are able to gather together for events, either internally or publicly.
This is particularly true when the event is well planned, appropriately funded, well organized, well publicized, well attended, and is relevant to the goals and mission of the School. To properly plan, fund, organize, and publicize our events, requires hard work and a significant amount of preparation. The policies laid out here help to streamline the event planning process and ensure that everything runs as well and as smoothly as possible.
Capacity 40-50: Technology available – smart board, two projectors, sound system, stationary computer
Capacity 16-25: Technology Available – Video/Phone Conferencing, stationary computer, dual TV screens, projector/screen, microphones, speakers
Capacity 10-12: Technology available – Projector/screen, stationary computer, web camera, speakers
Requests for room reservations will be honored on a first come, first serve basis for internal S-CAR events. To schedule and plan an event will require at least two weeks prior notice. This is to help ensure that there is enough time to promote and plan the event to make it a success. Please note, while the minimum requirement is two weeks, the recommended time to plan an event is 6 weeks.
Conference rooms 5000 and 5145 are available for meetings, and may be requested at any time by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Room reservations for meetings that request technology assistance are required to give at least 48 hours prior notice.
To request additional information about these spaces, room reservations, or receive a consultation about planning an event on the Arlington Campus please email email@example.com. Find out how to host your event on another campus. http://scar.gmu.edu/events/space-reservations (hyperlink)
If you are interested in hosting an event through the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, the first step is to fill out the event request form. Once your request has been received, the Event Coordinator will be able to work with you on coordinating all necessary details.
All spaces in Founders Hall are booked through The Office of Events Management. You can either contact them directly, or go through the S-CAR Event Coordinator for these requests, depending on your needs.
- If you need a room as part of an S-CAR event that will require further planning, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The Event Manager will be able to assess the needs of your event, and work with Events Management in Founders Hall to secure an appropriate space.
- If you need this room for a one-time event for which you do not need the assistance of the S-CAR Event Coordinator, you may make the room reservation yourself. Events Management requires that all room requests be submitted using their online form.
Reservations for some of the rooms in Founders Hall may require a fee for technology use, set-up and break down of spaces, as well as a housekeeping fee if your event involves catering. If you choose to use these spaces, these fees are your responsibility.
For further policies and procedures with Founders Hall spaces, please refer to the Office of Events Management.
If you would like to hold your event on the Fairfax campus, please contact Barbara Breckenridge for guidance and assistance in reserving a space. She may need to refer you to work with the Office of Events Management in Fairfax to reserve your spaces and negotiate any other needs:
