Supporting Students

Embodying a Generosity of Spirit

Our students are our greatest contribution to the world, and we are grateful to every donor who chooses to support them.

These awards highlight how scholarship support makes a difference at S-CAR.

The School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution prepares our graduates for high-impact careers such as mediation and negotiation, law and criminal justice, community advocacy and development, human resources, international aid, development, and diplomacy. Scholarships provided by generous donors allow students to reach their fullest potential and make a difference in the world.

Joan Shapiro Scholarship Endowment

This award was established in 2015 by Ilana Shapiro, PhD '03, and Robert Harris, MS '96, PhD '03, in honor of Ilana's mother, Joan, to assist graduate students with the costs related to an applied research project. Robert and Ilana remembered how important this supplemental research is to the student experience, and how difficult it can be to obtain the necessary funding.

The Shapiro Scholarship has supported a project examining the narrative of the Syrian war and dissertation research on activism against the violence Central American migrants face in Mexico.

Wallace Warfield Scholarship Endowment

This award was established in 2010, when many of Wallace Warfield's friends, admirers, and family members made gifts to his memorial fund. Dr. Warfield helped shape the philosophy that theory and practice must be a collaborative process, and we honor his legacy and exceptional commitment to students through this award.

The Warfield Scholarship supports students conducting fieldwork or practical training within conflict analysis and resolution. Those who receive this award are engaging with the community through service and action.
